New CD finished and set for release in Summer 2005
After 18 months in the studio, Joe and producer Curtis Leonard have completed recording for Joe's 2nd CD, "These Days." The CD includes 11 new tracks including a remake of the 2003 "Desert Love." Also included are audience favorites "Angeline" several new songs written during 18 months of touring. Rohan describes the new release as "edgier" in some places and yet still sticks to the simple formula of focusing on the song itself.
"This one was more fun to make," he states. "The songs are more about everyday life. We also let the music erupt when it wanted and then strip down to a guitar and a voice when it wanted. Curt Leonard (co-producer) really made the music come alive and I really felt like I was working with a partner that cared as much about the music as I did. Rather than focus on fancy production techniques, we gave all our attention to the songs themselves and capturing a real performance. Because of that, I feel like these songs have a personality and a heartbeat."
The new CD also features great performances by Tom Prebish on bass, Curt Leonard on guitars and Scott Smith on harmonica with guest appearances by Tommy Wiggens on electric piano, Mark Leach (Buddy Miles Express) on Hammond B3 organ and Emily Strand and Kelly Wright (Anne E. DeChant) on additional vocals.
These Days is set for "official" release is Summer of 2005 with advance copies available through promotional announcements. Help spread the word!
